  • Ascorbic acid (Vitamin C)
  • N-Acetyl Glucosamine (NAG)

Mode of Action

Inhibition of Tyrosinase Activity: Tranexamic acid inhibits tyrosinase, a key enzyme involved in the production of melanin (the pigment responsible for skin color). By blocking this enzyme, glutathione decreases the synthesis of eumelanin (the darker form of melanin) and favors the production of pheomelanin, which is lighter in color.

Reduction of Oxidative Stress: Hyperpigmentation can be exacerbated by oxidative stress, which leads to an overproduction of melanin. Tranexamic acid helps neutralize free radicals and reduces oxidative stress, thereby preventing excess melanin formation.

Conversion of Melanin: Tranexamic acid can shift the balance between eumelanin (dark pigment) and pheomelanin (light pigment). It does this by promoting the conversion of eumelanin into pheomelanin, leading to a lightening effect on the skin.

Regeneration of Antioxidant Systems: Tranexamic acid works in synergy with other antioxidants like vitamin C and E. These antioxidants play a role in reducing pigmentation through various pathways, and glutathione helps regenerate these antioxidants, keeping them in their active form.

Detoxification: Tranexamic acid also plays a role in detoxifying the skin cells from harmful substances that may trigger melanin production, such as heavy metals and environmental toxins.
